Abstract

|
Recently, procurement and distribution of human tissues from patients with the history of dementia, which has been limited not to donate for transplantation by law, ellicited social concern. In order to reach the goal of human tissue transplantation, to improve quality of life of recipients, and to prevent disease transmission by human tissue transplantation, it is necessary not only to define and to understand dementia and neurodegenerative diseases but to differentiate those disaeses in the point of their infectivity by through review for updated scientific studies and literatures. Here I reviewed human tissue transplantation related domestic and international regulations, updated articles on infectivity of neurodegenerative diseases, which would provide guidelines to decide donor suitability of patients with dementia for human tissues.
